Hartog Comfort

Hartog Comfort is a unique fiber-rich mixture based on roughage with a vitamin and mineral balancer. Hartog Comfort is the ideal alternative to a high grain concentrate ration.
Replacing muesli or pellets with Hartog Comfort has several benefits.
- Hartog Comfort contains a low amount of sugar and starch and is molasses and grain-free.
- Hartog Comfort is very tasty.
- Hartog Comfort covers the entire basic need of vitamins, minerals and trace elements of the recreational horse.
- Hartog Comfort is a source of high-quality fiber, healthy fatty acids and essential amino acids.
Very low sugar and starch level
Hartog Comfort contains no grain or other sugar- and starch-rich raw materials so the mixture does not affect the horse's blood sugar level. The basis of the mixture consists of roughage. Mixing a balancer with a lot of fibers slows down the intestinal passage so nutrients are better utilized. This increases the efficiency of the balancer. At the same time, the roughage ration is upgraded with high-quality fibers and the mix supports the natural chewing process, saliva production and gastrointestinal function.
Full coverage of vitamins and minerals
The daily (basic) requirement of vitamins and minerals of an adult horse is already covered with 1 kg of Hartog Comfort.
The balancer contains a variety of vitamins such as A, B 1, B2, B5, B6, B9, B12, D3, biotin and E. The roughage mix is made from artificially dried grass. Because the roughage is artificially dried, the naturally contained vitamins are better preserved.
Organically bound trace elements
The balancer in the Hartog Comfort is not only enriched with the daily requirement of vitamins and minerals, but it also contains all the necessary (organically) bound trace elements.
Organically bound trace elements are better absorbed in the small intestine compared to synthetic variants. Trace elements like organically bound zinc and copper strengthen the intestinal barrier and are essential for a strong immune system, healthy skin and shiny coat. In addition, they have a positive effect on joints, bones, cholesterol and cognitive functions.
Healthy energy sources and essential building materials
The combination of a roughage mix with a balancer is unique! It contains the daily required nutrients and is also rich in slowly released energy from healthy fatty acids and building materials such as proteins.
Horses are real grazers and, with a sufficient intake of fresh grass, they get enough omega 3 fatty acids. Horses whose rations are largely made up of hay have a bigger need for omega 3 fatty acids. Hartog Comfort contains linseed and lupine. Both ingredients contain an excellent amount of omega 3 fatty acids. This source of energy is released slowly and has no (negative) effect on the sugar level. This makes this energy source also suitable for sugar-sensitive horses with diseases such as PPID, insulin resistance and laminitis.
Lupin and Pea contain a lot of protein and are easily digestible for horses. A rich amino acid diet is not only important for sport horses. Recreational horses also need enough proteins/amino acids. Amino acids are the building materials for healthy skin and coats. Arginine helps to repair visible skin damage, histidine calms the skin and has antioxidant properties, methionine protects the skin against harmful substances from the environment and lysine strengthens the skin surface.
Feeding advice
In addition to (average quality) hay, Hartog Compact Gras or Hartog Gras-mix:
- Per 100 kg body weight: 160 - 250 grams Hartog Comfort per day
Weight horse/pony - Quantity per day
- Horse (600 kg) 1 kg – 1,5 kg
- D/E pony (450 kg) 0,75 kg – 1 kg
- C pony (300 kg) 0,5 kg – 0,75 kg
- A pony/Shetlander (150-200 kg) 0,25 kg – 0,35 kg
Please note: do not exceed the recommended daily allowance. The values in the product are safe. Even when doubling the portion. Nevertheless, adding unnecessary amounts of vitamins is an additional load on the organs. For example, with an overabundance of vitamins, the kidneys are put under additional pressure to filter the substances out of the body.
